30 Day Closet Challenge....Day 4,5,6,7

Hey all!

I guess this week has been a little crazy!  But here is the past few days of the challenge.  And if you're wondering why I am doing this, it's because of a few reasons.  Number 1, I need to save some money.  We are going on a couple of trips soon and Christmas is coming too!  And number 2, is that I really need to see what I have my closet and see what I really really do need.  Going with that one, I have noticed that I just need some basic tees.  I can never seem to find some basic white and black tees when I need them from my closet!  We'll see what else I need in the next few weeks!

Day 4:  Paisley tunic by Van Heusen, and navy skirt by Target.

Day 5, Black sweater by Old Navy, white tee by Target and black and white skirt by New York & Company.  I don't remember where I got the scarf.

Day 6, Casual day at work, if I work a work tee.  Add a boyfriend purple sweater and add some Old Navy bootcut jeans, and I'm set for casual day!

Day 7 means lazy day of TV and running to the store.  Schlafly brewery tee and black comfy pants from Marshalls.

And of course, do you think I would remember about yesterday and today??  Nope!  Next post later tonight with yesterday lazy Sunday and work Monday.

Till then....

30 Day Closet Challenge...Day 2 & 3

Good morning all!!

So here it is, Days 2 and 3.  I know I am on Day 5 and haven't gotten a pic of what I wore the past few days up yet.

Day 2!  Black skirt from Old Navy and blouse from Target!

Day 3!  Grey pants from New York & Company, cardigan from Old Navy and tank top from Gap.
As this month progresses, you will notice I have a few favorite stores.  And they are places where I can usually find a good deal.  Sometimes I like to even shop at Walmart and Target.  Sometimes they are the best for just the basics and sometimes even the statement pieces.  And then I don't mind going to the other stores for the more statement pieces.  Though, I do like those outlet malls... ;)

Till later today for Day 4 and Day 5!

30 Day Closet Challenge.....Day 1

So, here it goes...

I'm doing the 30 Day Closet Challenge and if you don't know what it is, it is a month long challenge where you do not buy any new clothes! I've tried it before and had fun.  So, now we're doing it on here!

I started it yesterday and here is yesterday's outfit!  Don't laugh at me because it's comfy stuff!  I didn't do much yesterday and didn't dress up!
T-shirt and comfy yoga pants for the lazy Sunday!

Well, onto bigger and better things for the rest of the afternoon!  Have a good one!

As I said in my previous post, I just joined a gym and training for a 5k, later this fall!  And I had a friend start to ask me about my health and fitness goals.  And I also read in a running book that it is important to also set rewards for yourself.  I also understand that you have to be realistic about your goals and rewards.  Slowly but surely, we can change our unhealthy habits into healthy habits that can enhance our lives!

That being said, here are my fitness and health goals and rewards.....

Fitness/Weight Loss Goals
1:  I’d like to lose 5 pounds.
2:  I’d like to get healthy and not be on the border of diabetes.
3:  Finish a 5K run
-Detroit Zoo Run- Sept 2014-  DID THAT ONE!! :) :) :)
-Chicago Hot Chocolate Run- Nov 2014
4:  I’d like to work out/run 3 times a week.
5:  I’d like to cut down on the soda that I drink, one a day.
6:  I’d like to cut down on the sugar and fat intake.
7:  I’d like to stop eating the candy at my desk.
8:  I’d like to stop eating lunch out every day.

Rewards for Training
1:  I’d like to give myself a spa day, to get a massage, mani & pedi.
2:  I’d like to give myself a day shopping.  Maybe outlets or Michigan Ave.- This one, after the 30 Day Closet Challenge.
3:  A glass of wine at dinner.
4:  A piece of cake after dinner.
5:  A beer at dinner.

Happy Fall!!

Hey everyone!!

Seems like ages ago that I did a post!  So, here's another one!!  ;)

October 2nd and it feels like fall!  The sun finally decided to come out and play!   The trees are changing colors and they look so beautiful!  I am so ready for the football season, apples, pumpkins and much much more this fall!

A few things that I am going to try and do this fall....

1:  I want to run a 5k!  I did the Detroit Wild Run in August and I did it in 47.19 minutes!  That was my first ever 5k!  I think I did okay for my first time.  I didn't run as much as I would have liked to, but there's always next time!  I want to see if I beat it!  And that next time is the Hot Chocolate 5k, here in Chicago, in November.  I am so excited to run this one!  You get chocolate afterwards!!!  How cool is that!!  There are few people that are going to run with me on this one!  I am very excited to start to train again!  The friend who is running with me and I start training next Monday!  We are going to run after work every Monday and Wednesday!  I have something to look forward to on Mondays instead of just work!  So, you'll see the progress of the training here!

2:  I joined a gym!  Me, the lazy couch potato, joined a gym!  I would like to try to work out a few times a week there and run.  So, if I could get into a groove and start to get healthy, that would be AMAZING!!!

3:  I want to do the 30 Day Closet Challenge!!  If you have never heard of it, here you go.  So, for 30 days you have to wear stuff from your closet and not buy any new clothes!!  So, I am going to start on Sunday!  So, expect to see my clothes for a 30 days!  I did it once before, let's see if I can do it again!  Shall we???

4:  I want to cook more and explore more recipes!  Phil and I are always eating out and not cooking dinner every night.  I need to do more cooking!  I need to find recipes that I can start on Sunday and put in the crock pot throughout the week!  I just have to clean out the freezer first!!!

5:  I would love to go apple picking!!  If anyone wants to join in, let me know!  I just have to find a place!!  ;)

I think that's it for now!

Until Sunday.....

Marcus Evans Appreciation Afternoon

Hello all....

Yesterday was Aug 1st and was an afternoon off from work.  Our office was able to close at 12 noon.  And we were able to enjoy ourselves for the afternoon!  We had several options to do.  We could do a movie, a boat cruise, a beach adventure, an open bar at a local watering hole or go home and enjoy time with the family.  Since Phil would be still working, I choose to do the boat cruise.  I have never done one since living in Chicago, so I decided to do one!

Our afternoon started with lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company Restaurant on Navy Pier.  Then after a short delay due to the incoming weather storm, we were on a boat cruising the lake!  There were about 10 of us who decided to go!  I must say, it was the best choice!

In other words, "I'm on a boat!  I've got my swim trunks and my flippie floppies!!"

Good morning!

This morning I give you the view I had at dinner last night and dessert too!  Phil and I went to Sweetwater Bar downtown for dinner and a drink and then grabbed ice cream from our local ice cream shop!  With the nice weather that we had last night, we decided to sit outside on the patio!  And we even grabbed our patio chairs and sat outside eating our ice cream! Our dog even made an appearance at dessert!  She may have also begged for a bit of my ice cream but had to settle for the last bit of the cone!

I guess you could say it was a successful evening!

Now, onto the workday and the rest of the week, wishing for the weekend!!

Mid-Summer check in

Wow, has it been since May since I wrote something??  I guess it has!!!  Anyway, what has been going on since then???

Well first off, we finally have some good weather!!  I just hope it continues!!  And we live in a wonderful city that is great in the summer!

June brought us the official start of summer!!  I got to go to a Tigers game when they played the White Sox.  I went to the game with a good friend of mine and rooted for the Tigers to a win!  It was a nice night for a baseball game!  It'll be great to get to more games later this summer!!

July brought us our anniversary!!  We got married 4 years July 3rd!  Well, this year was a complete BUST!!  We both ended up working on the 3rd and were so tired from the day and the short week, that we didn't even go out to dinner!  We ordered take-out!  Which can be fun, if you make it!!  Phil owes me!!  Though, the 4th was great this year!  We both were off from work and got to enjoy a hike and a picnic at Starved Rock State Park.  It was great to get out of the city, even if for a few hours!  Then this week brought my sister to town!  She lives in St. Louis and we get to see her every couple of months!  We took her to Eataly downtown and enjoyed some pasta and wine!  Then we joined some of my co-workers for the Kickball League!  I haven't played Kickball in about 20 years and it was a blast.  And I am not athletic, but it sure felt good to get out!  I even caught a fly ball from a kicker!!  Had dinner drinks afterwards to end the night!  She should be on a plane back to STL as I type!!

Now it's the middle of summer and I feel like I still have so much to do and no time to do it in!!  So, following Sarah, a friend of mine, I am starting a Summer Bucket List!  Everything I want to do and more!!
So, here it goes.....
-Attend a concert in the park with the CSO.
-Go to festivals around the city, including the ever popular Taste of Chicago.
-Go to Vegas on vacation, in August!!
-Go back to Starved Rock, but this time, take more pictures and the dog!
-Go to Six Flags, Great America!
-Finish a baby gift for my best friend who is pregnant with twins!!  And yes, that means I have to finish two things!!!

I think that's it for now!

Enjoy some summer weather and some air conditioning too if it's too hot for you!

Part of the city as we were driving down Halsted!!

The sister and her wine at Eataly!!

You can't go wrong with a soft pretzel, a beer and good ol' fashioned baseball game!

New to this.....

Well hello world!  I am pretty new to this, so bare with me!!

I guess I should start out with who we are, right??  I am Terri and my hubby is Phil.  We live in Chicago and have been here for about 4 years this month!  We both work downtown and live on the south side of Chicago.  We have a 3 year old Australian Cattle dog we got from a PAWS shelter.  Her name is Yoshi and she is a crazy puppy!  Sometimes she is hyper and crazy, but most of the time, she naps around the house! I don't know how I ever lived without a dog before we got her!

We love Chicago and wouldn't go anywhere else!

We love to cook and eat!  We also love to take the dog out for walks around the neighborhood!  Phil and I love to go explore this wonderful city we live in, too!  We love our Roku, Netflix and Amazon all in one place!  Phil and I love to watch movies and go see them, too!

I guess the rest we'll have to figure out as we go!

To be continued......
